All common questions about starting singing lessons answered for you.
Yes. I have taught loads of beginners over the years and am very experienced helping students who have never sung in front of other people before develop into fantastic singers.
Absolutely. I've taught singing to children before, and have also worked as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant and Creative Writing Mentor in the UK, as well as teaching primary-aged students English as a Foreign Language. If there is an educational or special needs focus that you'd like to address within the singing lessons, I'm more than happy to work with you on that too.
Yes. Most of what people think is tone-deafness can actually be 'trained' out. We'd do exercises that specifically address this issue, and improve your ear and confidence.
Not at all if you don't want to. However, if you're working towards grades, I will need to teach you a little bit.
This is completely up to you for the most part - you're welcome to suggest or bring songs that you love to our lessons, or let me know which genres and artists you're interested in. Otherwise, we can try a little bit of everything until you find your niche. If you're working towards grades, then there will be an official list of songs from the exam board that we'll choose from together depending on your tastes and musical range.
That's completely normal. For cases where my students are extremely nervous, we start off singing and doing really simple exercises together, and once the student begins to relax and feel more comfortable, I can gradually reduce my input until the student is singing on their own.
Yes, I have taught small groups of singers before - get in touch for more information.
Of course, you can. I have blocks of 5 & 10 available. You will also receive a confirmation email which you can print off to put inside a card.
Just prepare 1-2 songs to sing.
Yes, I am able to teach grades for those students who are interested. Though it certainly isn't compulsory to take graded exams - many of my students simply learn for fun.
